What's going on ? Welcome to the

0:19

channel . My name is Jon Cerrone

0:21

. We're doing a little different episode

0:23

today . This is more like a vlog actually

0:26

. Instead of doing a feel-free episode

0:28

where we talk predominantly about

0:30

wellness and other inspirational

0:32

stories and stuff , we're really just going

0:35

to be talking about me , updates on

0:37

my life , hobbies , that I enjoy

0:39

, things of that nature . So if you do like

0:41

this type of content , let us know in

0:43

the comments section , give

0:45

us a like and subscribe and all that

0:47

good stuff . But without further ado

0:49

, let's get into a little bit of it . I'm actually

0:52

a little excited about this because

0:54

it's different than what we normally do and

0:56

, honestly , I just get to talk about some of the

0:58

things that interest me . And you might be asking well

1:01

, what's going to be first on the list ? And

1:03

, to be honest , the first thing that we're going to be talking about

1:05

, we're going to hit them with something good

1:07

. We're just going to talk about video games . I'm

1:10

a big gamer ? I'd like to think I

1:12

am , actually Maybe not in the terms

1:15

that other people of the community would

1:17

label me as I'm sorry , I do not

1:19

play Fortnite . I

1:22

don't play League of Legends anymore . I'm not big on

1:24

shooters or big console

1:27

games . Now that I think about it Honestly , I'm a

1:29

pretty niche type of gamer

1:31

. Favorite system is Nintendo . Two

1:33

favorite series of all time got to be Pokemon

1:36

and Fire Emblem . Now I

1:38

do play some open world RPGs

1:40

, like Tears of the Kingdom on the Switch was really

1:42

cool . Also , when they ported the Witcher onto

1:44

the Switch , that was also really cool . So I do

1:47

enjoy the open-world RPGs . I'm

1:49

really big on turn-based strategy though

1:51

, something to involve my critical

1:53

thinking , planning , problem

1:55

solving , stuff like that . I liked playing

1:58

Civ and other RTSs on computer

2:00

, like Age of Empires and stuff , but right now

2:02

we're just going to be talking about some of the games

2:04

that I'm interested in . Right now I am playing

2:07

an old copy of Pokemon

2:09

White , so that's Gen 5 . I

2:12

only played Gen 1 through 4 growing

2:14

up . I did play Legends Arceus

2:17

. That was great , and I also played the

2:19

Gen 4 remakes , so this is the

2:21

first time I'm playing Gen 5 . I'm kind of going in blind

2:24

. I'm enjoying it , really enjoying it . I

2:26

actually got a grip made

2:28

for the 2DS , so

2:31

my hands don't hurt because I'm old as

2:33

hell . I guess you know my hands cramp up

2:35

, so I'm enjoying that . For that

2:37

, though , I was replaying Pokemon

2:40

Sapphire , which is Gen 3 , probably

2:42

one of my . It's either Gen 2 or Gen 3 , but

2:44

that happens to be my favorite games . But

2:47

I was replaying Pokemon Sapphire on my

2:49

Analog Pocket , which is a high

2:52

definition Game Boy , super

2:54

bougie , probably one of my

2:56

favorite investments I've made in the last few

2:58

years , and I also got a grip made

3:00

for that by Power Up Gaming

3:02

. You know what ? I'll drop some links to Analog

3:04

and Power Up Gaming for that , because

3:06

it's really been one of the best handheld

3:09

experiences that I've had . So

3:11

I was replaying Pokemon Sapphire in my

3:13

Analog Pocket . I do have a Fire

3:15

Emblem game that I'm not all the way through Fire Emblem

3:17

Engage , which is on the Switch . Paper

3:20

Mario , the Thousand Year Door has been reported

3:22

on to the Switch , so I'm

3:24

probably going to get that . Right now I'm just , you know

3:26

, playing old Pokemon games gives me something to

3:29

think , think about , wind

3:31

down with . Video games have always

3:33

been a really big part of my I'd

3:35

like to say wellness , you know

3:37

it does . I can't say

3:39

that I haven't been addicted to video games

3:41

, or it's been a bad habit because it has

3:44

, which is actually why I'm nearing three

3:47

years without playing League of Legends

3:49

. Played League of Legends for like a decade

3:51

. It's a great game . Unfortunately

3:54

, it is too addictive and

3:56

too toxic also , so

3:59

I had to cut that video game out of my life

4:01

, unfortunately . But video games are

4:03

really special to

4:05

me because they do give me

4:07

something to think about . I look forward to problem

4:09

solving , love , a good story . So

4:12

that was the first thing I wanted to talk about was me

4:14

playing video games . Number two on

4:16

the list . Another fun topic we're

4:18

going to be talking about anime , also

4:21

a really big part of my wellness

4:23

. Also , we don't have a YouTube

4:25

channel for it yet , but my sister

4:27

and I did start a podcast

4:30

called Just Anime . It is out

4:32

on Spotify , google and Apple

4:34

where we talk about just

4:36

anime . So check out some of those episodes

4:39

. We do have another episode that's coming out in a few weeks

4:41

where we're going to be talking about some of the newer

4:43

shows that are airing right now . Anime has

4:45

been a really big part of my

4:48

sobriety , my recovery

4:50

, my wellness , giving

4:52

me inspiration to be in the shape

4:54

that I'm in , to overcome

4:57

adversity and also to just enjoy

4:59

really good stories and animation

5:02

and all that stuff . So anime is a really

5:04

important part of who I am today

5:07

. It also gives me something

5:09

to look forward to . So right now

5:11

the new season of Demon Slayer

5:13

is airing . Definitely love Demon

5:15

Slayer . It's beautiful animation . Ufotable

5:17

is one of the best animation studios

5:19

that I've seen , like with the Fate series

5:21

, fate Zero and Fate Stay Night , so those

5:23

were good . My Hero Academia is

5:26

airing right now Another one of my favorite

5:28

series , so that's good , that's good

5:30

. There's a new series out called

5:32

Kaiju no 8 , which is awesome

5:34

, and then another one that's airing is

5:36

Windbreaker , which is also

5:39

dope . And I've been watching one called

5:41

Megalobox , which is like a boxing

5:43

anime . So I'm going to try and give you bullet

5:45

points on some of the ones that I'm watching . First

5:47

of all , kaiju no 8 , the main character is not

5:49

a 15-year-old kid with

5:52

superpowers , he's like

5:54

32 , and they make jokes about how

5:56

old he is . I

5:59

really do enjoy watching animes where the main character is not some kid

6:02

. I love watching them when they're

6:04

older , like Cowboy Bebop

6:06

or Samurai Champloo are two

6:08

of them . I did start that one called Monster

6:10

. I do have to finish that one , but with Kaiju

6:13

no 8 , they make jokes about his age

6:15

. It's inspiring because the guy's kind of like

6:17

in his 30s and he's given up

6:19

on his dreams and then the

6:22

show is about him getting

6:24

a chance in order to now

6:27

chase those dreams again . But the

6:29

show itself is great . The animation is awesome

6:31

. The story is pretty good right

6:33

now . The characters are funny . I'm really

6:35

enjoying it . Windbreaker is also

6:37

a good one . If you were a fan of

6:39

Tokyo Revengers , this is another concept

6:42

like that where it's like high school

6:44

gangs in Tokyo , not really

6:46

biker gangs like Tokyo

6:48

Revengers , but just kind of like gangs

6:50

. You know ruffians or you know they call them

6:53

degenerates . So

6:55

it's really cool . The one qualm I had with Tokyo

6:58

Revengers is the animation isn't great

7:00

. Windbreaker the animation

7:02

is really awesome . The fights

7:05

are cool . The music is really cool

7:07

too . Highly

7:10

recommend giving Windbreaker a shot , and with Demon Slayer and my

7:12

Hero , you kind of already know what you're going to get . Those

7:15

are two of the heavyweights in the anime

7:17

community right now . They're definitely

7:19

in their final arcs of their

7:22

respective shows , so it's

7:24

getting really interesting to see how things

7:26

are coming together after being a fan

7:28

for the last few years . Megalobox

7:31

is cool . It's kind of dystopian future

7:34

a little bit , where it's a boxing anime where

7:36

the people have like kind of robotic

7:38

arms and stuff attached

7:40

to them and they box with it . It's

7:43

kind of cool . It's actually made me want

7:45

to get into boxing . So the

7:47

sports animes are pretty interesting . The

7:50

other sports anime I've watched would be Haku

7:52

, so that one's cool too . See , I've been watching

7:54

, obviously , obviously a lot of anime . I'm

7:57

enjoying that . There's also that time I got

7:59

reincarnated as a slime that's airing right now

8:01

that I got to get caught up on too . I

8:03

watch a lot of my anime on Crunchyroll

8:06

or Hulu and

8:08

I keep up to date with anything that's airing with

8:10

my anime list . Yeah

8:13

, video games and anime are a really big part

8:15

of who I am and I

8:17

do enjoy talking about them . So

8:19

if you guys want me to talk about more of that

8:22

, I've

8:27

been gaming and watching anime for over 20 years now , I think . So I always like talking about

8:30

that stuff . We're going to talk a little bit about wellness , or I should say

8:32

, yeah , we're going to talk about wellness , talk about talk

8:34

about my wellness . So I've been . I'm a big

8:36

basketball player . I love playing basketball . I've been

8:38

hurt for , you know

8:41

, like two months I've been rolling my ankle left and right

8:43

. That's what I , you know , and I'm old and

8:45

playing with people at LA Fitness who don't

8:47

totally understand how

8:49

to play organized basketball . I

8:52

tend to get more hurt playing around younger

8:54

kids , so I've been definitely

8:56

more hesitant on the games

8:58

that I play . Just you know , kids get under me when

9:00

I'm jumping and then I roll my ankle and here

9:03

we are . So I have been playing

9:05

. The last week I've been playing with

9:07

people and it's been great . Normally

9:10

when I got hurt I kind of went

9:12

scorched earth and stopped working out completely

9:14

. This time was different . I stayed in really good

9:17

shape , had been going to the gym regularly

9:19

at least five times a week , hitting different muscle groups

9:21

, doing heavy , probably especially in adaptability

9:23

. I've hit weeks and days

9:37

where I deal with depression , anxiety

9:39

and apathy , but I've

9:41

managed to power through that , which

9:44

has been awesome . That'd

9:47

be . Another topic I'm going to talk about is going to be

9:49

the mental health landscape , but

9:51

right now , for the physical wellness

9:53

, I've been very proud of myself

9:55

for how I've come around . I mean

9:57

, even last week I didn't really do

9:59

anything . I had a pretty off week last week

10:02

, but this week I got back to it and

10:05

I've been running again . I don't

10:07

like running . I really don't . It

10:09

is a great form

10:11

of exercise . It's also nice

10:14

because it gives you a goal and something

10:16

to push for and strive for . So I get a little

10:18

bit of an adrenaline boost there . So that's been

10:20

really great . Because with basketball

10:23

, same thing very

10:25

goal-orientated , like getting

10:28

better at shooting or dribbling or playing

10:30

against people . There's score

10:32

involved with running . There's or

10:37

playing against people . There's score involved with running , there's PRs . My goal is to get

10:39

back to being able to run two miles in 14 minutes straight through . I'm

10:41

not there yet , that's okay . So

10:43

I have enjoyed that . Heavy cardio

10:45

days so I'll bike like 10

10:48

miles on a stationary bike , I'll row

10:51

for 20 minutes and then I'll walk on an incline

10:53

for 10 minutes and then I'll

10:55

do 15 minutes in the sauna

10:57

. So I do one of those days

11:00

at least once a week . Otherwise

11:03

I'm isolating muscle groups

11:05

, like I'll just do a leg day

11:07

, maybe some plyometric exercises

11:10

, chest and shoulders and triceps

11:12

on one day and then bicep

11:15

and back on another day . Pretty standard

11:17

stuff . I don't really

11:19

lift for high weight

11:21

, low rep . I do lower

11:23

weight and higher reps just to

11:25

build endurance and tone . Yeah

11:28

, so that's kind of what I've been doing for working out

11:30

. It's been working out . I've

11:33

been watching my diet , not slamming

11:35

as much ice cream , because

11:37

that's a guilty pleasure of mine

11:40

. If you are one

11:43

of the fans of the podcast and you know I am a recovering

11:45

addict . I just

11:47

reached my five-year sobriety

11:50

mark last week and

11:53

I tend to get addicted to things

11:55

fairly easily

11:57

and to like I use

12:00

ice cream and video games and anime

12:02

as other

12:05

types of habits that I used to use

12:08

drugs and alcohol for right . So

12:10

, working out , staying on top

12:12

of my , my exercise

12:15

, my nutrition goals and creative

12:18

goals , work , finance , like

12:20

doing everything that

12:22

a healthy individual should have . You

12:24

also need to have some sort

12:26

of release or vice . It doesn't even have to be

12:28

super healthy for

12:30

you , it just needs to be something that you

12:32

find enjoyment with

12:35

, that doesn't necessarily have

12:37

the potential to turn into something terrible

12:39

. Right , like I wouldn't like reason with myself

12:41

right now and be like well , you can drink then because

12:45

it's out of the question , I'll , I'm

12:47

going to be sober the rest of my life , so when

12:49

I do , you know I had ice cream

12:51

Friday and Sunday , so

12:54

you know I had to run like four miles

12:56

one day . Try and burn that off . You know you

12:58

try and use different things to make

13:00

up for what you do , right ? Yeah , don't

13:03

get in a habit of going

13:06

scorched earth with a bunch of bad habits

13:08

and decisions and then keep

13:10

that going for even longer

13:12

than a week , like it's okay to have a bad week

13:14

. I have bad weeks all the time . Then

13:16

I get after it the next week . What I used

13:18

to do is I would have a bad week and I would let

13:20

that snowball for a few weeks

13:22

at a time . So now I'm able

13:25

to catch myself from doing that and

13:27

it takes practice . All in all , my physical

13:30

wellness goals have been great

13:32

and yeah , I just wanted to

13:34

say that the next thing we're going to talk about is going

13:36

to be the mental health side of things , and

13:39

mental health has always been a big

13:42

topic on my podcast . I've

13:45

also I guess you could say I'm a

13:47

mental health advocate . I don't really like

13:49

doing things

13:51

that would consider myself an

13:53

advocate on social media and stuff , because I don't

13:55

like social media . I don't even really

13:57

like recording things about myself

14:00

, but I will say that

14:02

I have been going to see a therapist

14:05

regularly . I need check-ins

14:07

like that . It's just who I am

14:09

. My brain moves too fast

14:11

sometimes At the age of 30

14:13

, almost 31 , there have been some OCD

14:17

and ADHD tendencies that have flared

14:19

up over the years and

14:22

you know I just need help dealing with it and

14:24

that's I'm all right being vulnerable

14:26

, saying that you know mental health is extremely

14:28

important . We need check-ins

14:31

, check-ups , and

14:33

you know if you need help , you need help

14:35

. Nothing to fucking freak out about . You

14:37

know , being vulnerable , asking for help has

14:40

been a huge help for me . Another thing that's

14:42

really important for my mental health is

14:45

going on walks , and people

14:47

may be like , all right , okay , that's you know mental health is going on walks and people may be like , okay

14:49

, that's you know mental health

14:51

is . I keep saying

14:53

that like I'm supposed to define it , but

14:55

I view mental health as just like your ability

14:58

to deal

15:00

with stress and

15:03

also to have I'm

15:07

not even gonna say a positive perspective

15:09

, but to be in sync

15:12

with your perspective

15:14

about yourself and the world , to be

15:16

able to handle stress and

15:19

to be grateful . I'm

15:27

not a fucking doctor . You can't say that . I'm literally just saying what I think

15:29

it is or what my goal with mental health is , which is why I go see a therapist

15:31

, which is why I go on walks , which is

15:33

why I read , which

15:35

is why I set limits for my screen time

15:38

, which is why I try

15:40

to surround myself with positive people

15:43

too . These are all things that you can work towards

15:45

in order to have a good foundation for mental

15:47

health , and having good physical routines

15:50

is integral to my mental health

15:52

as well . Yeah , understanding that has

15:54

been a huge help for me in the recent

15:56

months , and you know it's

15:58

important for me to even

16:01

talk to myself like this and

16:03

to continue writing . So the

16:05

other thing that I wanted to talk about were other

16:07

habits outside of , I should say

16:09

, other habits and hobbies outside

16:12

of the video games

16:14

, the anime , the playing basketball

16:16

and working out . Going on walks is pretty

16:18

big for me . I'm on and off with reading

16:20

or listening to audio books

16:23

. Sometimes I'll go a few months where

16:25

I'm always reading and then I go a few

16:27

months where I'm not reading . I finished 1984

16:29

by George Orwell , which is a really good book

16:31

. Right now I'm getting through Beyond Good

16:33

and Evil by Friedrich Nietzsche and

16:36

listening to some lectures about that

16:38

philosophy

16:48

that I've studied and it inspires me in a lot of my writing . Other

16:51

things that I've been doing I've been freestyling a lot . When I do go on

16:53

walks , I listen to lo-fi usually and I'm

16:55

usually freestyling

16:57

rapping . I started writing poetry

16:59

again . So I do that in the morning

17:01

or at night . Writing is a big

17:03

part of who I am and

17:06

my mental health and also what

17:08

I create because I am

17:10

an author . You can check out my book that I dropped

17:12

two years ago . I'm actually going to a holistic

17:14

wellness festival this weekend and I

17:16

will be selling my book as well and my podcast

17:19

, so that's exciting too . But

17:21

, yeah , writing is a big part of who I am Able

17:23

to journal , just talk

17:25

to myself , get my thoughts out and also be creative

17:28

has been awesome . Been spinning

17:30

poi and gloving

17:32

a little bit too . I went to a electronic

17:35

show a few weeks ago and

17:37

inspired me to , you know , take my my

17:39

lights out again . For those that don't know

17:41

poise , like the people who spin

17:43

fire except their lights , it's

17:47

a type of flow art . It's the same with gloving

17:49

. So , like tutting finger , tutting , dancing

17:51

, those forms of dance have been really important

17:54

to who I am and

17:56

for a long time . When I was getting

17:58

sober , I stopped

18:00

doing those things and as

18:02

I've come into my recovery , I've begun

18:04

to do these things again and enjoy them . So

18:06

we've touched on pretty

18:09

much all the hobbies that I take

18:11

part in . I even dropped a little

18:13

current event that I'm going to be working

18:15

at a holistic wellness festival

18:18

. Some people from my high school started a non-for-profit

18:20

and they're running this festival

18:23

and I reconnected with one of the guys from high

18:25

school and looking

18:27

forward to just doing more work with

18:30

what they're doing , because I'm excited for

18:32

it . It seems like a really great organization

18:34

. Give them a follow . Check

18:36

out their website . It's a Greater Good Foundation

18:38

. So , yeah , there is a holistic wellness

18:41

festival at Proviso East

18:43

this weekend . So , yeah , looking forward

18:45

to that A little nervous , but should be okay

18:48

. So , if you did like this content , let

18:50

me know in the comment section , because

18:52

it does help me get ideas on what

18:54

you guys want to hear . I haven't been recording

18:57

a lot of podcast episodes

18:59

recently , and that's okay

19:01

. I do have a few that are going to be released over

19:03

the next few weeks , so keep an eye

19:05

out for that . But again , if you like this

19:07

content , if you like a specific theme

19:10

that I was talking about and you want me to

19:12

do a longer episode about that , let

19:15

me know too . Give me a like and

19:17

subscribe . But , yeah , thanks for sticking

19:19

around . Hope you guys enjoyed it . But

19:21

have a good rest of your day , stay

19:24

up , feel free .
