I owe my podcasting education to Adam Carolla. I’ll backup – in Jr. High and High School I grew up listening to classic Loveline with Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew. Being from the Midwest, I didn’t follow Carolla when he left the show in 2005 to essentially be the West Coast Terrestrial radio version of Howard Stern…but I tried to keep tabs on things when I could. Then…when his network flipped formats and he was left on his own, but with a loyal fanbase…so he started a podcast. And he grew it into an empire, and I found it and listened pretty much from the first week on through now. I was exposed to so many new artists and entertainers and it was through Carolla that I got to hear one of my all-time favorite comedians, Dana Gould, for the first time. It’s a morning zoo format- Carolla is at the helm, he has his straight man/sidekick in “Bald” Bryan Bishop, and a perky news girl in Gina Grad to giggle and play the role of every girl in all interactions…but it works. Cosmically, things lead to things…and Carolla lead me to a wonderful aural landscape of interviews, music, and of course comedy. Even if I don’t listen as much as I used to (no knock against him- I have so many shows to juggle now) this will always have a place in my heart as being the first podcast that led me to so many others. Thank you, Adam. Thank you, crew. Good times.
